aaaaa A team of six people, five from the U.S., and one from India, met in Yangon, Myanmar in June to work together on the translation projects taking place there. Regional Translation Consultant, Sana Singh of India came to work with the national translator Hoi Chung Tum of the Hakha Chin translation team, as that team makes further advances toward completion of their New Testament. Chief Translation Consultant Glenn Kerr did final approval checks on the Falam Chin New Testament, which is now being formatted in the BI office for publication in the near future. He also worked with consultant-in-training Jill Zwyghuizen on the Tedim Chin Old Testament, checking the book of Deuteronomy with Pastor Kenpi. Associate Editor Becky Kerr helped with all aspects of the logistics of the workshop, particularly arranging meals. Consultant-in-training Debbie King and Adjunct Consultant Daniel Smith both worked on linguistic analysis of the Falam Chin language, as BI advances further toward a Falam Chin dictionary and writer’s handbook for that language. The writer’s handbook will guide future publications of materials in the Falam Chin language.

aaaaa Also during the two weeks of workshops, Jill and Glenn taught a session on using the software program Adapt It, a Bible translation software program especially developed to aid in making interlinear translations and adapting existing translations to other related languages.
