Troy Manning Commissioned for Service at BI

Dr. Troy Manning was commissioned for missionary service with Baptist Mid-Missions Wednesday evening, November 30, 2011. He was commissioned for service at Bibles International as the Chief Language Consultant and as such, is the first new member of the administrative group at BI for several years. The commissioning service took place at Mount Calvary Baptist Church in Greenville, South Carolina, where Troy has been a member since 1996.

BI Director Hantz Bernard gave a charge to the church, while Pastor Mark Minnick gave the charge to Troy. Using 2 Timothy 2:15 as his text, he challenged Troy to be faithful in life and ministry so that he might be an “approved workman.”

Pray for Troy as he takes up full-time ministry at Bibles International. As head of the Text Production Department, he will lead the department most directly involved in the translation process. This department seeks to aid millions of people around the world gain access to the Word of God in their own language. It is a daunting task, one for which few men or women feel competent since there are still more than 4,000 languages which do not have a single verse of Scripture in their language. Join us in praying with Troy as he begins to oversee all the details involved in this task, for the glory of the Lord.
