Record-Setting Harvest Dinner 2011

Bibles International’s 2011 Harvest Dinner held on October 20, was a record-setting event. For the first time BI had 769 guests registered to attend this annual dinner, held at Calvary Baptist Church in Grand Rapids. Although some registered guests were unable to attend, approximately 750 were in attendance, 100 more than the usual attendance at this annual event. Perhaps the 100 more attended because they wanted to join the celebration of God’s good hand of blessing on BI throughout the past 30 years.

As she has done in past years, Protocol Coordinator Cheryl Elmer very capably led the efforts of the Bibles International team through the weeks leading up to October 20. She was also in charge of the approximately 50 volunteers who helped with the setup throughout that day. Without the help of all these people, such an event could never have occurred.

The evening was delightful. The catered meal was delicious and was served by another 50 volunteers. The musical ensemble, under the direction of Chief Language Consultant Glenn Kerr, exalted the name of the Lord. Then Dr. Gary Anderson, president of Baptist Mid-Missions, BI’s parent organization, led us in reflecting on God’s blessings during BI’s 30-year history. Director Hantz Bernard announced that gifts given to help defray costs of Scripture portions to be printed within the next 10-12 months totaled approximately $44,000.

Praise the Lord with us for an evening in which His name and His Word were magnified and lifted up.
